“Hug of War: How to Lead a Family Business with Both Love and Logic” by Cathy Carroll is a practical guide for navigating the complex dynamics of family-run enterprises. Drawing from her personal experience in leading her family's manufacturing business, during her keynote for the Stevens Center for Family Business, Cathy will address the unique challenges that arise when familial relationships intersect with business operations.

Cathy will address the concept of embracing the inherent tensions between family and business mindsets as a polarity, rather than viewing them as opposing forces is a central theme in her book. By adopting a "both/and" approach, leaders can craft solutions that honor both emotional bonds and business imperatives. Through real-life stories and actionable strategies, Cathy will provide insights into managing power dynamics, succession planning, and fostering constructive conflict within family businesses.
