Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra to host Kennen White for Spirt & Virtuosity

Kennen White, long-time principal clarinetist of the Saginaw Bay Orchestra, was previously a member of the Toledo and Grand Rapids Symphonies, and the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra. He has performed with the Midland, Flint, and Lansing Symphonies, the Traverse Symphony, Detroit Symphony, Ft. Wayne Philharmonic, Michigan Opera Theater, and the Minnesota Orchestra. A soloist on the Centaur Records label recording, “Chamber Works of Alvin Etler,” and on White Pine Music, “Double Star: Works of David Gillingham.” Kennen has also recorded with the Crescent Duo and Powers Woodwind Quintet on Centaur Records, White Pine Music, and Blue Griffin Records, including “Flights of Fancy,” “Bremen Town Musicians,” Gems for Woodwind Quintet,” “Hidden Gems,” “Woodwind Echoes,” and Flute/Clarinet Chronicles.”
 
He has appeared at conferences, concerts, and music festivals in the United States, Italy, England, Belgium, and Japan, such as the International Clarinet Association Clarinetfest and conferences for the National Flute Association, International Double Reed Society, College Band Directors National Association, and the Music Educators National Conference. Professor of Clarinet at Central Michigan University and conductor of the CMU Clarinet Choir, Dr. Kennen White has degrees from The University of Michigan and Northwestern University, and his teachers included Clark Brody, Robert Marcellus, and Fred Ormand. He can occasionally be found in nature with his bird list and a camera.
